All’s fair in love and war

The Talking Pigeon

--

End of quote. Women, men. The sentence works for both.

Because when you fall in love, mind can’t set its right condition for you. Because when your fate keeps you at stake, there’s no second for thinking. Hence why all is fair.

I say, that there’s no such thing to obligate you to do what’s right. Because, what is right? Who set the bar?

All’s fair in love and war, you played, you loved, and maybe you lost. But at least you loved. There’s no rules, no orders, no lines that you can’t cross when you love.

People love in such different ways, and love is the whim you found that brought you comfort. It unties you from things you have been contemplating about. Since all’s fair, you don’t rethink what ‘people’ usually does when they’re in love. You do what you think is fair. For you.

“Normally, usually”, these words are limiting you.

It’s never normal and never usual when you feel something that makes you want to throw up, somersault, put your whole closet out, jump over the window, wait for the phone to ring, and think about them to sleep.

You don’t get to think what’s fair when you are feeling yourself. It’s fair to be sentimental, it’s fair to be emotional, it’s fair to smile from ear to ear every time, it’s fair to love.

When your head tells you to steal a rose to give it to him, or her, maybe just do it. When your heart tells you that you can cook your favorite breakfast and give it to him, or her, maybe just do it.

When your ear tells you that everyone is staring at both of you and your partner, maybe they actually do. But still, all’s fair in love and war.
